Things to Do

Coxwood Farm is ideally placed in North East Wales as a base for all manner of pastimes. Chester and Wrexham are only 7 miles away and our good motorway connections mean Liverpool and Manchester can be reached in less than an hour. The Wirral, Dee Estuary and Ceiriog Valley are just a short drive away. You can also drive to Anglesey or the peaks of Snowdonia in little over an hour.

Family Days Out

The Blue Planet Aquarium in Ellesmere Port, Tenpin Bowling at Wrexham or Chester, Waterworld in Wrexham, Wave Machine and Slide at Plas Madoc, Chester Zoo, Boat Trips on the Dee in Chester, Cinemas, an Ice Rink in Deeside, Ski Slopes in Runcorn, the Llangollen Steam Railway, Cheshire Farm Ice Cream Factory - the list goes on and on. All within 25 miles and some considerably closer! A little further afield are Knowsley Safari Park and Welsh Mountain Zoo - both about 45 minutes drive.

Entertainment

There are Cinemas and Nightclubs in Wrexham and Chester, Clwyd Theatr Cymru in Mold (it's not all Welsh Speaking!), Venue Cymru in Llandudno (ditto!), Liverpool Echo Arena, the MEN Arena in Manchester, Llangollen International Music Eisteddfod, Theatres in Wrexham and Chester, Pubs and Restaurants in Rossett, Marford and Gresford (as well as Wrexham and Chester!)

'Retail Therapy'

For those who love shopping there is the Eagles Meadow in Wrexham, Chester with its famous Rows (and a good Park n Ride), Cheshire Oaks Designer Outlet in Ellesmere Port, Liverpool One, the Trafford Centre in Manchester, Shops in Oswestry and Shrewsbury - all within an hour's drive

Sport & Pastimes

Bangor-on-Dee and Chester Racecourses are within 15 minutes drive. Why not check when the next Races are and book a weekend away with us? Plenty of quiet country lanes for cycling - and proximity to several Sustrans Cycle Routes, Mountain Bike trails and walks in Coed Llandegla Forest, 4x4 Driving Days near Wrexham and Llangollen, Crusaders Rugby League team, boating on the Dee. . . .

Walking & Rambling

Lots of footpaths around the farm - ask us for copies of the local Village Walks which take in the paths and fields around Rossett and Marford. There are also many local Country Parks to ramble through. The Wirral Peninsular is 25 minutes drive away with walks and birdwatching along the shores of the Dee. The Berwyn Mountains and its North Berwyn Way LDP, the Ceiriog Valley, Sandstone Trail LDP and Loggerheads Country Park are only a short drive away too. Slightly further afield, Snowdonia and Anglesey can be reached in just over an hour down the A55 coast road.

Historic Properties & Gardens

Beeston Castle, Chirk Castle, Erddig Hall and Cholmondeley Castle and Gardens are all within 10 miles, whilst Valle Crucis Abbey, Castell Dinas Bran and Plas Newydd in Llangollen are just 25 minutes drive away. There is the Walled City of Chester with its famous Rows and many Guided Walks.

Craft & Heritage Centres

The Minera Lead Mines, Ellesmere Port Boat Museum, Greenfield Valley Heritage Park, Anderton Boat Lift and many more are within 20 miles.
